CLEVELAND — Nearly 200,000 Ohioans were without power after storms hit late Thursday night and early Friday morning, and some communities were left with damaged homes and businesses.

This included the Lyman Steel business in Warrensville Heights. Their building was crushed by the storm. Steve Spithas, who manages properties near Lyman Steel, explained the damage on his properties.

“A lot of trees down, a lot of branches, a lot of debris,” he said.

Spithas said they were lucky compared to Lyman Steel who was missing parts of their roof and building. Spithas said it is devastating to see this happen in the community.

“I really don’t like to see this kind of stuff because you know as you can look around this area, these are all small businesses. You know and when something like this happens this is their livelihood, these are the workers that count on a paycheck,” he said.

Spithas explained what matters most is no one was injured at the Lyman Steel building.

“Buildings can be rebuilt,” he said.

Lyman Steel confirmed that no one was hurt and that they are not able to work or ship out steel right now as they are trying to rebuild and get back on their feet.
